At SKS Culinary Academy, we understand that plans can change. At the same time, our courses require advance planning, instructor scheduling, classroom allocation, ingredient procurement, equipment arrangements and, in some cases, preparation of course kits and learning materials.
This Refunds & Cancellations Policy explains the terms applicable to cancellation of enrolment, course fees, registration amounts, workshops, batch changes and refunds.
By registering for a course, workshop or programme, making a payment or otherwise confirming your enrolment, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this policy.
This policy applies to payments made towards:
Professional culinary courses.
Baking and bakery courses.
Cake and confectionery courses.
Diploma programmes.
Short-term courses.
Workshops.
Specialised classes.
Customised courses.
Culinary events or activities.
Registration charges.
Course kits and materials.
Any other paid training programme offered by SKS Culinary Academy.
Where a particular course has a specific cancellation or refund condition communicated at the time of booking, that course-specific condition will apply to the extent permitted by applicable law.
Course fees may consist of one or more components, including:
Course tuition fee.
Registration fee.
Admission/booking amount.
Course kit charges.
Material charges.
Ingredient charges.
Other charges specifically mentioned for the particular course.
For example, certain SKS Culinary Academy courses currently list separate registration or kit charges in addition to tuition fees.
Students should carefully review the applicable course page, admission information or fee communication before making payment.
If a student wishes to cancel their admission or booking, the cancellation request must be submitted to SKS Culinary Academy in writing.
Cancellation requests may be submitted through the Academy's official contact details or through another officially communicated channel.
The date on which the Academy receives the cancellation request will be considered the cancellation request date.
A verbal request to an instructor, staff member or other person will not necessarily constitute a confirmed cancellation unless acknowledged by the Academy.
Unless specifically stated otherwise for a particular course:
Registration, booking, admission or seat-reservation amounts are generally non-refundable once the student's place has been reserved.
This is because the Academy may incur administrative, scheduling and operational costs in reserving a seat.
However, this provision does not affect any refund or remedy that may be required under applicable law.
For cancellations received before the scheduled commencement of a course or workshop, the Academy may consider a refund of eligible tuition fees after deducting:
Non-refundable registration or booking charges, where applicable.
Course kit charges already incurred.
Material or ingredient costs already purchased or allocated.
Administrative charges, where applicable.
Any other non-recoverable costs that were clearly communicated to the student.
The exact refund, if any, will depend on the particular course and the circumstances of the cancellation.
Once a course, workshop or programme has commenced, fees paid are generally non-refundable, because the Academy has already allocated:
Faculty/instructor time.
Classroom space.
Equipment.
Ingredients.
Course materials.
Administrative resources.
Non-attendance by a student does not by itself constitute cancellation and does not automatically create a right to a refund.
If a student is unable to attend one or more scheduled classes:
No automatic refund will be provided for the missed class.
The Academy may not be able to repeat the same practical session.
Individual catch-up classes are not guaranteed.
Missed sessions may not be transferable to another person.
Where the Academy permits a make-up session or alternative batch, it will be subject to availability and prior approval.
Students may request a change of batch, date or timing by contacting the Academy.
A batch change is not guaranteed and will depend on:
Availability of seats.
Course schedule.
Instructor availability.
Availability of ingredients and equipment.
Whether the course has already commenced.
If approved, the Academy may impose reasonable administrative or other charges where applicable and where communicated to the student.
Repeated batch-change requests may be declined.
Admission is personal to the student and cannot be transferred to another person without prior written approval from SKS Culinary Academy.
If a transfer is approved:
The replacement student may be required to meet applicable admission requirements.
Previously issued course materials or kits may not be transferable.
Additional charges may apply where applicable.
Where a course includes a registration kit, ingredients, recipe booklets, equipment or other materials, these may be ordered or allocated specifically for the student.
Once such materials have been purchased, prepared, issued or allocated, the corresponding amount may not be refundable.
Where physical materials have already been supplied to a student, they may not be returned for a refund unless otherwise agreed by the Academy or required by applicable law.
Short-duration workshops and courses often require advance procurement of ingredients, materials and instructor scheduling.
Accordingly, payments for workshops and short-term programmes may have stricter cancellation conditions.
Unless a different condition is specifically stated for the workshop:
Booking/registration amounts are generally non-refundable.
Cancellation after the booking has been confirmed may result in loss of the booking amount.
Cancellation after commencement will generally not qualify for a refund.
Failure to attend does not automatically qualify for a refund.
The Academy may, at its discretion, allow the student to move their booking to another available session.
For longer programmes such as professional culinary, baking, bakery or diploma courses, the payment structure may involve registration charges and monthly or staged tuition payments.
For example, the Academy currently offers courses with monthly fee structures and separate registration/kit charges.
Where a student pays fees in instalments:
Future instalments may be treated separately from amounts already paid.
Cancellation does not automatically entitle the student to a refund of previously paid amounts.
Outstanding instalments may remain payable where they relate to an agreed contractual commitment, subject to the specific admission terms applicable to that course and applicable law.
Students should confirm the payment schedule and cancellation terms before enrolling.
SKS Culinary Academy may occasionally need to postpone, reschedule, modify or cancel a class, batch or programme due to circumstances such as:
Insufficient enrolment.
Instructor availability.
Equipment problems.
Venue or facility issues.
Ingredient or material availability.
Government restrictions.
Safety concerns.
Operational requirements.
Events beyond the Academy's reasonable control.
Where reasonably possible, the Academy will provide advance notice.
Depending on the circumstances, the Academy may offer:
An alternative date or batch;
Rescheduling of the affected class;
Transfer of the student's payment to another available programme; or
A refund of eligible amounts, where appropriate.
The Academy will determine the most appropriate arrangement based on the circumstances, subject to applicable law and any course-specific commitment.
Culinary education involves ingredients and products that may be affected by seasonality, market availability and supply conditions.
The Academy may therefore make reasonable changes to:
Recipes.
Dishes.
Ingredients.
Menu items.
Demonstrations.
Practical exercises.
Course sequencing.
Such changes do not automatically constitute cancellation of the course or create a right to a refund.
The Academy's website itself notes that varieties may change according to availability for certain courses.
If SKS Culinary Academy is unable to provide a material service or course that was specifically agreed and paid for, the Academy will make reasonable efforts to provide an appropriate alternative.
Where an appropriate alternative cannot reasonably be provided, the Academy may provide a refund or other remedy for the affected portion, subject to the circumstances and applicable law.
Nothing in this policy is intended to exclude rights available to consumers under applicable law.
Where a refund has been approved:
The refund will normally be processed through the original payment method wherever reasonably possible.
Processing time may depend on the payment gateway, bank or financial institution.
The Academy may request information reasonably necessary to process the refund.
Any applicable bank/payment-processing charges that are genuinely non-recoverable may be deducted where legally permissible and where appropriately disclosed.
The Academy will make reasonable efforts to process approved refunds promptly.
Once SKS Culinary Academy has initiated an approved refund, the time taken for the amount to appear in the student's bank account, card or payment account may depend on the relevant bank, payment gateway or financial institution.
Such processing delays are outside the Academy's direct control.
Students should contact the Academy if an approved refund has not been received within a reasonable processing period.
If a student accidentally makes:
A duplicate payment;
An incorrect additional payment; or
A payment greater than the amount due,
the student should notify SKS Culinary Academy as soon as possible.
After verification, the Academy may refund the excess amount through the original payment method, subject to applicable payment-processing conditions.
A failed payment does not necessarily mean that an enrolment has been confirmed.
Where a payment is debited from the student's account but the Academy does not receive confirmation of the transaction, the student should contact the Academy with the relevant transaction details.
The Academy will verify the payment before confirming admission or processing any refund.
A refund request should contain sufficient information for the Academy to identify the booking, such as:
Student's full name.
Registered phone number.
Email address, if applicable.
Course/workshop name.
Date of enrolment.
Payment date.
Transaction/reference number, where available.
Reason for cancellation.
The Academy may request additional information where reasonably necessary.
Once practical training has commenced, a student cannot normally claim a refund merely because:
They have changed their mind.
They no longer wish to continue.
They expected a different learning experience.
They are unable to attend subsequent classes.
They have personal scheduling difficulties.
This does not affect any statutory rights available under applicable law.
Where a student is unable to attend due to a genuine medical or personal emergency, the Academy may, at its discretion, consider:
Batch transfer.
Rescheduling.
Credit towards another session.
Partial refund.
Any such accommodation will depend on the circumstances, course structure and availability and should not be considered an automatic entitlement.
The Academy may request reasonable supporting information where necessary.
If a student's enrolment is terminated because of serious misconduct, harassment, threatening behaviour, deliberate property damage, theft, unsafe conduct or serious violation of Academy rules, the student may not be entitled to a refund of fees already paid, subject to applicable law.
The Academy may take appropriate action to protect students, staff, property and the safe operation of the Academy.
Special discounts, promotional prices, early-bird offers, package pricing or other promotional enrolments may have specific cancellation conditions.
Where a promotional offer has separate terms, those terms will be communicated at the time of booking and will apply to the extent permitted by law.
Where a student requests a customised course, private training programme or specially arranged session, cancellation conditions may differ from standard courses because the Academy may incur specific costs in preparing the programme.
The applicable terms will be communicated to the student before confirmation.
Where a course, event or activity involves a third-party service provider, external venue, travel provider, payment provider or other third party, the applicable third-party cancellation conditions may also apply.
SKS Culinary Academy will make reasonable efforts to assist students but cannot guarantee refunds for amounts already paid to third parties where those amounts are non-refundable.
Nothing in this Refunds & Cancellations Policy is intended to remove, restrict or waive any rights or remedies that a consumer may have under applicable Indian law.
Where a service is not provided as agreed, is materially deficient, or another legally recognised basis for a refund or remedy applies, the Academy will address the matter in accordance with applicable law.
If a student has a concern regarding a cancellation or refund, they should first contact SKS Culinary Academy so that the matter can be reviewed and resolved amicably wherever possible.
Students should provide the relevant booking and payment information to enable the Academy to investigate the matter efficiently.
Nothing in this section prevents a consumer from exercising any rights or remedies available under applicable law.
SKS Culinary Academy may update this Refunds & Cancellations Policy from time to time to reflect:
Changes in courses.
Changes in payment processes.
Operational requirements.
Changes in applicable law.
Changes in Academy policies.
The latest version will be published on this page along with the applicable "Last Updated" date.
The refund terms applicable to a particular booking will generally be those communicated to the student at the time of booking, subject to applicable law.
